I currently work on investigating the current accessibility challenges and barriers that students face in an undergraduate majors-only biochemistry laboratory course, Laboratory Problems in Biochemistry (BCHM 4124). This project includes surveys administered throughout the semester to evaluate student learning outcomes, learn about the barriers that students face in the course, and receive feedback on the experiences that students have while taking the course. We expect to generate new knowledge about what accessibility challenges students can face in laboratory courses, as well as the potential impact of accessibility on student learning outcomes, which has important implications for how undergraduate biochemistry laboratory courses address the accessibility concerns of their students.
